Bobby Fish: CM Punk Acted Like A C-nt After Our Match, His ‘Bunk-Ass Martial Arts’ Is Insulting

Bobby Fish isn’t a fan of seeing “bunk-ass” martial arts in a professional wrestling ring.

NBC Sports Boston‘s Steve Fall recently spoke with Bobby Fish, who recently challenged CM Punk to a fight on his podcast. Fish elaborated and said it wasn’t so much a “challenge”, then explained where some of his issues with Punk started.

“I would call it more of an invitation that a challenge because there is no challenge. I have no problem with — Phil is not a bad pro wrestler, but what Phil is not, is a martial artist. I’ve been doing martial arts since I was eight years old, so I take a lot of pride in it. It’s something I’ll do until the day I die. There are other people within pro wrestling — Bryan Danielson, Kyle O’Reilly, people that train — they put that into their pro wrestling. Why? Why do you do that? Because pro wrestling is made up in such a way that we get to bring a little piece of ourselves and add it to what we do because so much of the variables are controlled.

“You can paint with whatever color you want. Choose a color that you have in your toolbox. Choose a color — if you don’t have blue, you’re not painting with blue. CM Punk is not a martial artist. He went on pay-per-view for a fight and showed the world that he is not a martial artist. He is a pro wrestler, so go out, tackle, dropdown, leapfrog again and again, all that stuff, all good. In that lane, dare I say he’s got talent. But when it comes to martial arts, you’re insulting the audience’s intelligence because we’re supposed to be creating an atmosphere to suspend your disbelief. It’s honestly insulting for you as one of my co-workers or peers, as a martial artist, you’re asking me to go out and sell, put over your ‘bunk-ass’ martial arts, which it’s insulting to the audience, it’s insulting to me.”

Fish then brought up their singles match and said he took the pin in the match, and felt like CM Punk should have been more respectful after it was over.

“At the same time, I’m working for AEW and they’re the ones paying my checks. You ask me to put my shoulders down for Phil Brooks, I go out and I do it. Interestingly enough, there was a little bit of… whatever… in the match he and I had. And then Phil was really — I don’t really know what kind of language I can use here — Phil after the match, was a cunt.

“Frankly, as a martial artist, I went out and I laid my shoulders down for you, you should be grateful that I did because on national TV, if I decided that I wanted to fuckin’ Haku your ass, I could have. Because you’re that little bit of a threat in my world. And I’m not Jon Jones or Anderson Silva, but I’ve been doing martial arts since I was young and I can handle myself enough to where I will fold you like a wet nap, Phil Brooks. So for you to be cunty afterwards, because of a mistake you made, it doesn’t wear well.”

Fish went on to rip Punk for stealing KENTA’s Go To Sleep finisher, saying it’s already a wrestling faux pas and he could have at least changed the name. Fish reiterated that if Punk is up for a fight and he’s “feeling froggy”, he’s ready to jump.

Later in the call, Fish referenced the now-infamous All Out press conference and went on to say that CM Punk showed what kind of a person he can be.

“I think Phil kinda showed the world the scumbag that he can be. Maybe he’s not that scumbag every day, I guess we all got a little scumbag in us, some of us do a better job of controlling it than others.”
