Finn Balor: I Feel More Creatively Fulfilled In WWE Than I Have In A Long Time

Finn Balor is having fun in his run as a heel.

Balor turned heel in June when he joined The Judgment Day. Since then, he has been a featured star on WWE RAW alongside Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley.

In an interview with Alex McCarthy for Inside The Ropes, Balor was asked about his recent success on WWE RAW alongside Triple H’s promotion to the head of creative. He noted that it might be a coincidence, but either way, he’s enjoying coming to work more now. The former NXT Champion emphasized that he likes being a genuine heel, a role that he hasn’t thoroughly played before in WWE.

“It might be a coincidence, I don’t know. But I’ve definitely been enjoying going to work a lot more recently. I think that’s mainly down to the face that I’m getting to do something that I really enjoy, and that’s being a true heel. It’s something that I haven’t had a chance to do in WWE correctly. We’d hoped to do it in NXT, but when we lost the interaction of the live crowd, we kind of tweaked the character to be more of a tweener, like cool heel. So I feel very comfortable in the current version of like a true classic heel, and I’m enjoying it, man. It’s fun.

When asked whether he previously had any plans to be in a stable, Balor recalled how he once pitched working with the Authors of Pain, but in hindsight, this group may have been too similar to Bullet Club. Now, with the Judgment Day, he’s enjoying the way the stable stands on its own. He stated that his work with the stable is refreshing, and he feels creatively satisfied.

“I think when I had discussed it before, I had pitched the idea of going with the AOP,” Balor. “But I feel like now looking back, it might have been too similar to Bullet Club, and I feel like when you try to recreate something, it’s never as good as the original. I feel like this Judgment Day is something so far removed from Bullet Club that it’s very refreshing, for me especially, and not having to kind of try and recreate what I’ve done years and years ago.

“I’m more creatively fulfilled now than I have been in a long time in WWE, and it feels good just kinda going out there and expressing yourself a little bit more freely as a heel. The reigns are off a little bit, and I’m enjoying it again.”
