It sounds like the WrestleMania dream match between Roman Reigns and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one step closer to reality.
It has long been rumored that The Rock’s next match would involve him stepping into the squared circle at WrestleMania to do battle with his cousin Roman Reigns, but many fans dismissed this idea as a pipe dream. It wasn’t until the match was teased on Dwayne’s NBC sitcom Young Rock did it seem like there was a real shot of the matchup taking place.
The Head of the Table was the latest guest on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about the possibility of facing The Rock next year at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, Reigns admitted that Dwayne teasing the possibility in his own project only created more speculation that it could happen.
“Update is Dwayne’s dropping it within his own project. So it’s got to be pretty good,” Roman Reigns said. “It’s got to be pretty special. I think that just goes to show the clamor, the buzz for it, the chatter for it. The wishful thinking, so it’s something that he definitely played into within Young Rock, which as you know, with him, everything’s highly strategical a lot of synergy with everything that he does with the projects that he’s guiding and has in mind. So I would say just based off of that alone, it looks even better than it did last time we spoke.”
