Vince McMahon spent his birthday evening with John Cena.
TMZ reports that former WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon celebrated his 77th birthday on August 24 by visiting the Waverly Inn restaurant in New York City. It appears that McMahon (and an unidentified woman who was photographed with him) met up with 16-time WWE world champion John Cena and his wife Shay Shariatzadeh.
The report states that McMahon and Cena have maintained a close relationship over the years, which is evident by the birthday dinner. This marks McMahon’s first publicized appearance since he retired from WWE following hush money allegations. Post-retirement, Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan took over as co-CEOs and Triple H gained creative control of WWE.
John Cena last competed for WWE at SummerSlam 2021 when he lost to Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event. He made a special appearance on Raw on June 27 to celebrate his 20th anniversary of being a WWE superstar.
Separate from the TMZ report, a spectator noted that WWE announcer Pat McAfee and former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar were also in attendance.
