Former NWA President Howard Brody Passes Away

Former NWA President Howard Brody has passed away

PWInsider first reported the news on August 24, stating that he caught an infection after he had quadruple bypass surgery.

Brody was an experienced promoter in the wrestling world. He was known for his work with the Ring Warriors promotion, and he landed international television deals that proved to be immensely beneficial for  Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Under his guidance, the Ring Warriors show was a trailblazing product because it could be downloaded on the internet, long before technology evolved and made streaming a leading method of distribution.

Brody was the NWA President from 1996 through 2001; during his tenure, he practically saved the brand through striking a working agreement with the WWE that allowed the latter company to use the NWA logo, Jeff Jarrett, and others involved with the company to appear on RAW. This collaboration helped revitalize the NWA  as it motivated other promoters to seek membership.

On behalf of WrestleZone, we send our condolences to the Brody family.
