WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray said Matt Cardona wouldn’t have lasted a day in ECW, and “The Deathmatch King” fired back.
In an interview with NBC Sports Boston, Ray, one of ECW’s top stars in its heyday, argued that Cardona has never wrestled anyone who’s truly a “hardcore” or “extreme” wrestler. He dismissed Cardona’s memorable deathmatch with Nick Gage and called Game Changer Wrestling “garbage bag GCW” and stated that it was “one of the worst ECW rip-offs” he’s ever seen. Cardona responded by sharing a picture from his run as Zack Ryder in WWE ECW and saying that he’s an ECW Original.
Come on @bullyray5150…everyone knows I’m an ECW ORIGINAL! https://t.co/pCmFnB9x93 pic.twitter.com/gqjCVscLgr

Ray retweeted the post by saying that Cardona wouldn’t have lasted a day in ECW back in the 1990s. The former GCW World Champion responded by telling Ray that he wouldn’t last a day in any promotion in 2022.
Lol ok Bully. You wouldn’t last a day in any promotion in 2022. https://t.co/5vD14hF4qa

Cardona faced another ECW Original, Rhino, at GCW Notorious in January 2022. After he beat the veteran, he brought out the ECW World Television Championship and declared that he was the new champion. He threw the title in the trash the next day.
