Tegan Nox addresses why she hasn’t wrestled since her WWE release.
Nixon Newell, better known to WWE fans as Tegan Nox, was released from WWE in November during another round of budget cuts. The former NXT standout has not been seen in a ring since. Nox recently sat down with Sean Smith of the Sappenin’ Podcast and revealed that visa issues are keeping her from competing.
“Basically, because I haven’t gotten the visa or green card, I can’t wrestle,” said Nox. “I keep getting messages, ‘Have you retired?’ No, I just can’t. Legally, I can’t. I’ve just been chilling in the house, playing video games, going to Sad Summer Fest a couple of weeks ago, which was phenomenal. Just chilling with the dogs and friends. Usual stuff that I can do without working.”
When it came to her WWE release, Tegan Nox noted it was upsetting, but that she had been expecting it. She stated that she’s ready for her next chapter, but she’d happily return to the company one day.
“I don’t know why, but I had this feeling I was going to be one of the budget cuts. In my stomach, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna be one of them.’ Every time it passed without me, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m in the next one. I’m in the next one.’ And when I was in it, I kind of expected it. So, it was upsetting, but it wasn’t a surprise. I was like, ‘Okay cool. This is it now. I’ll go on to the next chapter of my life. I’ll do this, I’ll do this.’ But honestly, I had such a good time in WWE, like I would be more than happy to go back one day. It’s just a timing thing now, I guess. I need to get my visa sorted and make a name again for myself, and hopefully our roads will cross again one day.”
