Triple H: WWE Has A ‘Massive Opportunity’ To Engage With Current Stars And Create New Ones

Triple H sees a big opportunity to enhance the WWE product.

WWE Chairman, CEO and head of creative Vince McMahon retired on July 22, and Triple H subsequently took over all creative responsilbities. Since then, fans have already seen a number of changes to WWE programming, and he has also brought back previously released stars like Karrion Kross and Dakota Kai.

During the conference call about WWE’s earnings for the second quarter, Triple H was asked about the opportunity WWE has to refresh and enhance the product and the changes investors and fans can look for. In response, he noted that he’s been approaching his role as the head of creative with “first day on the job thinking. He stated that he has been examining everything, from the overall picture to the smallest details. Triple H also emphasized that the goal to create “iconic” characters and put them in “amazing storylines:, remains the same.

“I think the opportunity in front of us is massive, and as a great man once told me, first day on the job thinking, and that’s what we’re doing here is first day on the job thinking,” said Triple H. “For me, I’ve been doing this for a long time, from behind the scenes and creative, since really almost the very beginning of my career here with WWE. But I’m approaching it from a first day, what is working, what isn’t working, from the overall picture all the way down to the smallest of details and really trying to create from there.

“It all comes down to the same thing that it’s come down to since the beginning is creating iconic characters, putting them in amazing storylines, and fantastical storylines and whatever works for those characters the best, and then running with it and watching how fans react to that along the way.”

Triple H continued by emphasizing that the company has a “massive opportunity” to work with its current stars and create new ones; in doing so, WWE will aim to elevate these performers  to new levels.

“So I think the opportunity is massive, I think it’s an opportunity for us to not only engage with the stars that we have for our fans, but to create new stars as well and create the platform and the opportunity for them to become bigger than anything we’ve seen prior to it.
