John Cena Reveals His Status For WWE Clash at the Castle

John Cena recently confirmed his status for WWE Clash At The Castle.

Slated for September 3rd, Clash at the Castle will run in Cardiff, Wales. WWE has not featured a premiere live event from the United Kingdom since 1992. At SummerSlam that year, The British Bulldog defeated Bret Hart in the main event.

Now, WWE returns to the United Kingdom, where Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre. These two stars will clash in the main event for the biggest prize in the company. There is one star missing, however.

16-time WWE Champion John Cena recently appeared at Comic-Con in Wales, answering questions from the audience in a Q&A segment. In speaking with the fans, Cena confirmed his absence from the pay-per-view.

“I’ve been coming to Cardiff to fight for 15-plus years, and every time, it’s exciting and amazing. I’m not going to be at Clash [At The Castle]. I wish I was,” Cena addressed.

John Cena has not competed in a WWE ring since last September, in a dark tag team match. Teaming with the Mysterios, his team defeated Roman Reigns and The Usos (collectively, The Bloodline). Prior to that, Cena unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns at SummerSlam last year.

In June, Cena returned to Monday Night RAW for his 20-year anniversary celebration with WWE. Many thoughts this appearance would spark a feud with Theory leading up to SummerSlam 2022. The two shared a moment backstage during that RAW, but nothing ever came into fruition in the weeks following. Cena reportedly would miss SummerSlam due to his filming schedule of Peacemaker.
