Liv Morgan Details The Two-Year Process Of Creating Her ‘Air Morgan’ Shoes

Liv Morgan explains how her knee-high sneakers came to be.

While speaking to Joe La Puma of Complex, SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan discussed shoes she likes to wrestle in and detailed the two-year process that resulted in the creation of her knee-high sneakers. Liv ended up wearing the “Air Morgan” knee-highs at WWE’s Day 1 pay-per-view in Atlanta and called them the perfect combo of a boot and sneaker.

“So we did customs back at Royal Rumble a couple years ago when I had pink hair. We did a Jordan 1 and all different panels were a different color of pink, and I had a blue tongue so we made the [shoe] tongue blue. They were amazing so I definitely wanted to hit him up for a new pair, but I got a character change in 2019 and they wanted a full Liv makeover. So that meant, head to toe, no more Jordans. So I switched to boots, and I was so uncomfortable because I’ve only wrestled in Jordans. My whole entire career I felt less athletic. They were so heavy. I just felt clunky. So I hit up Mache [Dan Gamache] and was like, ‘Is there any way we can combine a Jordan and a boot?’ He was like, ‘We can try,’ and we never talked about it again. Then the week of Day 1, he’s like, ‘Your shoes are ready,’ and I was like, ‘What? Like the shoes from two years ago?’

“So he made these “Air Morgans” that are knee high, and they’re light as a feather. It’s like the perfect combo of the boots aesthetic and the comfort and leisure of a Jordan 1.” Liv Morgan added, “I think my favorites are Jordan 1. I mean, just across the board, favorite to wrestle in, favorite to wear. I feel like they’re so diverse. I can wear them with a suit, a dress, a skirt, sweats. They go with everything. But in the ring, I think they’re my favorite because of the ankle support.”
