Sasha Banks and Naomi are reportedly on their way back to WWE.
The duo, who had been the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time, walked out of the May 16 episode of WWE RAW due to a reported creative dispute. WWE subsequently suspended the duo and stripped them of the titles. Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. later reported that Banks had been released by the company. However, with Vince McMahon retiring and Triple H assuming responsibilities as the head of creative, the duo may return soon.
On August 1, WrestlingNews.co reported that, according to a source, “an agreement has been reached for Sasha Banks and Naomi to return to [WWE].” The report also noted that there “is a belief backstage that we may see them return on tonight’s [Raw] or in the near future under Triple H’s regime.”
Later in the day on Monday, Bryan Alvarez discussed the report on Wrestling Observer Live. He noted that he’s not 100% sure, but he has one source who stated that Banks and Naomi have agreed to return.
“I am not 100 percent confirming this, but since everybody is asking about it, I do have one source who is saying that, ‘Yes, Sasha and Naomi have made a deal to return,'” Alvarez said. “So we’ll know more I’m sure within two hours. But I’ll just say I think it’s true. I’m pretty sure. But I can’t say 100 percent.” (H/t Joseph Currier of the Wrestling Observer)
Last week, Dave Meltzer appeared on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast and stated that he heard WWE would try to make things right with Banks and Naomi.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
