Ric Flair: ‘I’ll Be Drinking Every Night’ Ahead Of My Last Match, I Don’t Go Good Unless I Drink

Ric Flair has offered a glimpse of his preparation ahead of his last match, saying that he’s been drinking every night ahead of his return to the ring.

On July 31, “The Nature Boy” will lace up his boots one last time at the fittingly named “Ric Flair’s Last Match” event. There, he’ll team up with Andrade El Idolo to face Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Flair was asked whether doctors are confident about his in-ring return. He responded by stating that nobody has told him “no”, he’s feeling good, and he’s been training hard. He also revealed that he’s been drinking every night.

“I haven’t asked anybody since I started training,” said Flair. “No one’s told me no. But outside of getting treated for that plantar, I haven’t been back to a heart doctor. I feel great. My heart, at my age and with a pacemaker, you’re supposed to never take your heart rate over 50 points above your age, so I should never take it over 130. Yesterday rising a bike, I got it to 193. So if there’s something plugged up, it hasn’t backed up on me yet. I’ve had it up to 203. I’ve been doing 500 free squats and s–like that. That alone, I don’t how many guys in the business right now… 500 free squats in 12 minutes. It’s a time. I’ll be doing 500 again tomorrow. Take a day off, 500 more on Friday and then I’ll probably just ride the bike on Saturday and Sunday and enjoy it. I guarantee you that I’ll be drinking every night. I don’t do good when I don’t drink at night. I’m like Lawrence Taylor.”

Earlier in the interview, the legend noted that he had been dealing with some health issues over the past few weeks, but he’s good to go now.

“The last couple weeks, I don’t know whether it’s psychological, but I thought I had pneumonia, I got sick from I think I was working out too much and driving in an air-conditioned car in a wet shirt,” said Flair. ” Then they thought I had COVID, then I got plantar fasciitis on the bottom of my foot, which is brutal. But yesterday, everything was a-okay. Five days out, I’m good to go.”

The WWE Hall of Famer also emphasized that, heading into the match on Sunday, his goal is to leave people wondering how he pulled it off.

“I know people are saying that all I have to do is get in the ring and strut around and go ‘Woo’, but I’ve got to give them a lot more than that to satisfy myself and to have you guys saying on Monday, ‘Holy s—,'” said Flair. “‘What the hell just happened? How could that guy be 73?’ That’s my goal right now, on Monday morning, for you guys to going, ‘What the s—? How’d he ever pull that off?’”
