Ciampa is confident that, now that he’s in the spotlight alongside The Miz, he’ll be able to get the ball rolling with his run on WWE RAW.
The former NXT Champion has aligned with “The A-Lister” in recent weeks on the red brand. While this combination has confused some fans, “The Blackheart” knows that there are plenty of eyes on The Miz, so he stands to gain from working with him.
In an interview with Kevin Kellam of Sportskeeda Wrestling, when asked about the pairing, he noted that inserting himself into the feud between The Miz and Logan Paul has already proven to be beneficial, as it allowed him to cut a memorable promo on RAW Talk. Ciampa pointed out that he’s performing in front of a new audience on RAW, and they may not know who he is yet.
“To be honest, the simple thing with RAW is, it gets way more eyes than NXT, and I learned really fast that the people who know me from that maybe make up a small percentage of this audience,” said Ciampa. “So we just have to get this new audience familiar with me and train them to know who Ciampa is. So it’s just a matter of finding an opportunity and trying to find an opportunity. Miz then took attention to it and he noticed it, and the good thing about that is a lot of eyes are on Miz, and a lot of eyes are on Logan Paul, and if I’m in that company, a lot of eyes are on me.
“I just saw it Monday with RAW Talk. I don’t get that RAW Talk opportunity if I’m not by Miz, who’s talking about Logan Paul. Doesn’t happen. So basically just say, ‘Oh, you guys have eyeballs on you. Let me insert myself, let me get a little bit of that’. Because that’s all I need, I just need to get the ball rolling, and once the ball gets rolling, I can handle it all myself. It’s just a matter of getting the ball rolling.”
Ciampa went on to describe how he respects The Miz because he’s been through the grind, and he can relate to the adversity he has faced.
“Well number one, he’s my brother’s favorite wrestler, and that carries weight,” said Ciampa. “I’m not even kidding, he is. I like The Miz, I’ve always been a fan of The Miz. I think it’s kind of funny, the false narrative like, ‘Well my Ciampa wouldn’t relate with The Miz.’ Well it’s like you don’t know your Ciampa then. Why would I not like him? He’s a dude who’s overcome adversity.
“Because if there’s anything I know about this is overcoming adversity. I get it, I get it when the door shut in your face. He’s been thrown out of locker rooms, I’ve been turned down on tryouts. You go through injuries, he’s been doing it. He’s in the grind. I don’t hate anyone who’s gone through the grind. If you go through the grind, I respect that.”
