Tommaso Ciampa has created ring gear in the hopes it would be immortalized as an action figure, but he has one idea that’s definitely a deep cut for some fans.
Ciampa spoke with Ringside Collectibles at San Diego Comic-Con about the thought that goes into his ring gear in terms of making it “toyetic”. Ciampa got an exclusive figure for his WarGames 2020 look, and he previously explained that he wanted something that stood out and could one day be recreated as an action figure.
“You think about that a lot too when you’re performing,” said Ciampa. “Like, you put together gear that you want to be toyetic. This is what you hope for, you hope for video games, and figures and stuff. So I remember coming up with that specific gear, with the mask and the hood, I was like ‘Man, I do hope that this one day becomes something.’ And sure enough, about a year later or so, it was right there. And then to have it in your hands, you know how it is, with the soft cloth, they just kill every detail. It’s so good, it’s all layered, packaging’s great. Really fun time that night with [Timothy Thatcher] as my opponent, he’s one of my good friends. So, just cool to have a memory like that, that you can now have forever, you know?”
Tommaso Ciampa said he wasn’t sure how the licensing would affect things, but he would like to potentially see his “God Of War” look from Halloween Havoc made into a figure. Ciampa then said that he saw AJ Styles’ throwback “WCW” figure and it gave him an idea that called back to his debut in WWE.
“I joke about this one often, but I just saw the AJ Styles WCW figure,” Ciampa said. “And I said ‘Wait, this might be possible now.’ But my first ever appearance with WWE was opposite Undertaker, when I was Thomas Whitney Esq., they own that, that’s theirs, if we could get a duo pack with me and Taker, put that on the bucket list.
“That’s one of the things that, to this day, I still… the amount of people that one, remember the segment which blows my mind, because it was 2005, but that then the correlation and get it together that I’m the same person, it’s pretty cool. So, somehow having that enshrined would be nice.”
Ciampa appeared on the July 14, 2005 episode of SmackDown as Thomas Whitney Esq., a lawyer for Muhammad Hassan.
