The secret’s out — AEW World Champion CM Punk has revealed the reasoning behind the “longbois” wrestling gear that he has used on occasion in All Elite Wrestling.
CM Punk was recently interviewed by Ringside Collectibles at San Diego Comic-Con to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his dog Larry being immortalized on his “First Dance” action figure, Punk said he never expected it but expressed how much that meant to him.
“No, but it means everything to me, and it means everything to my wife,” CM Punk said. “So it’s pretty neat. I can’t stop staring at it. Look at him. Look how handsome he is. My God.”
It’s been almost a decade since CM Punk had an action figure on store shelves, and the AEW World Champion couldn’t help but be excited by the little things that allow him to feel that joy again of having an action figure after so long.
“Well, I think it’s cool. Obviously, one of the greatest days, if you’re a pro wrestler, is when you get your own action figure,” CM Punk said. “You grow up playing with He-Man and GI Joe, Star Wars figures, and it never really crosses your mind that you yourself can eventually be an action figure or a toy. And it’s cool to see all these little young kids like Darby [Allin] get action figures. It’s always exciting when I see one of me, but you know what puts it over the top is like the Larry or the ice cream accessory. So where it’s like kind of old hat for me, and it’s not as exciting. It’s cool to feel that joy again after so long.”
One of the recent CM Punk action figures features him wearing his “longbois,” a look that has been met with a mixed reaction from some fans. Punk has joked in the past about some of the comments the long trunks have garnered, then told Ringside’s Tom Sanford that he chose to wear them in AEW so he didn’t have to shave his legs.
“That’s basically just so I don’t have to shave my legs,” CM Punk revealed. “The secret’s out!”
