Joey Janela Details Living With ADHD, Believes He Works Best On The Road

Former All Elite Wrestling star Joey Janela has lived his entire life with ADHD.

Game Changer Wrestling‘s Joey Janela was the latest guest on The Sessions with Renee Paquette to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about growing up with ADHD, which Paquette said Janela dealt with one of the worst cases doctors had ever seen at the time, The Bad Boy revealed he was put on Ritalin, but it didn’t do anything for him.

“There was definitely something wrong in elementary school teachers realize, and that’s when ADHD kind of first started becoming a thing,” Joey Janela said. “I was on Ritalin my whole life. Ritalin didn’t do shit. Besides, make me not want to eat anything all day and just bizarre. As soon as high school was over, I got off the Ritalin for sure.”

Joey Janela went on to discuss how the medication brought him down and suppressed his appetite badly. He also revealed that it went on to affect a lot of his relationships in his life because people didn’t understand how to deal with someone with ADHD.

“It definitely brought me down for sure. I didn’t like it at all,” Joey Janela admitted. “Mostly because the way it suppressed my appetite and whatnot, especially in high school and stuff. I was always like 95 pounds as a kid. So as soon as high school was over, I got off of it. But ADD is difficult, and being a child with ADHD. Because like, most relationships I get into, they don’t understand, they say you’re lazy, or you don’t want to do this, and it causes depression. It causes a bunch of things. You know, sometimes I just don’t want to do anything. It’s not because I don’t want to do anything. It’s because my ADD is telling me not to.”

Paquette asked him how his organizational skills are with ADHD, and Janela admitted that he’s terrible with that kind of thing.

“Yeah, my organization skills are the worst,” Joey Janela said. “And that’s why my apartment right now is probably a mess. And that’s why I work best on the road. I think that’s why the independents is like that’s where I want to be because I can go away for three weeks and not to have to deal with shit. Of course, sometimes my bills are late. Brutal every month. I am absolutely brutal at paying my bills, but I could go away on the road for three weeks for a month and just like checkout. I don’t have to organize anything. The most I have to do is go to a laundromat and then throw my crumpled-up clothes back into my suitcase, besides just wrestling, wrestling, wrestling, and travel. I can handle that. That’s why I wish; I don’t know… it might be that and concussions. I don’t know if I should say that, but just a combination of the two.”
