Report: Max Dupri Finished With Maximum Male Models Angle

Max Dupri looks to be done with the Maximum Male Models storyline on SmackDown.

Max Dupri, aka the former Eli Drake/LA Knight, was not at Smackdown in Boston on Friday night. His advertised segment was instead used to debut his storyline sister, Maxxine Dupri, and the beachwear segment he was supposed to be in was pushed to next week.

According to a new report from PWTorch‘s Wade Keller, Max Dupri has been written out of the angle. It was noted that sources said Dupri had rubbed some people the wrong way and wasn’t a good fit, so Vince McMahon made the decision a few weeks ago to write him out of the angle.

Fightful Select added some more details about the situation, noting that Max Dupri being unbooked was a last-minute decision. It was explained that one source said that Dupri “ruffled some feathers” when challenging a few of the scripts, and another said that Vince McMahon’s retirement would be beneficial to Dupri since he still had some supporters in the company.

Several people told Fightful some positive remarks about Dupri’s delivery of the gimmick. It was noted that McMahon had a hands-on approach with the gimmick and worked with Dupri often, asking him to deliver something that was a contrast to his former LA Knight character.
