The Watch List takes a look at what matches you should be watching while you’re at home and they come recommended by your favorite professional wrestling stars.
WrestleZone recently spoke with Wheeler Yuta, who recommended some of his Pure Rules matches in ROH and AEW as a way to prepare for what’s in store at Death Before Dishonor.
“If you’re trying to gear up for the pay-per-view, I would recommend watching some of the other Pure Rules matches. There’s ones I had in Ring Of Honor, for example, one with Jonathan Gresham, the Ring Of Honor World Champion. That’s one that I had in that tournament to crown a Pure Champion in 2020. I also have had [Pure Rules] matches in AEW, I had one with Josh Woods, I had one in Ring Of Honor and in AEW with him, and another one with Tony Nese. I would check those out,” Yuta explained, “just maybe to familiarize yourself with the rules especially, but also to see what I can do within the confines of those styles.”
Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia have faced off before on one occasion, a 60-minute match on IWTV that drew a ton of praise from the independent wrestling community.
“It’s interesting because Garcia and I had never wrestled until that hour-long draw that we had for the Independent Wrestling Championship. So we had never touched, and then we were so evenly matched that we went to an hour-long draw. So I think that it will be a very unique match to have here with the Pure rules, but I think that those will be what set it apart.” Yuta added, “The rules will really shape the match, but I also think this is so much more personal than the first match. I think that’s really going to help it stand out. The first time we wrestled, it was really all about the Independent Wrestling Championship and for seeing who the better man was. Now, this is personal.”
