Report: Santana Has Reconstructive Knee Surgery, Expected To Be Out Eight Months

The worst possible outcome for Santana’s knee injury following Blood and Guts on AEW Dynamite has seemingly been confirmed.

During an appearance on the True Geordie podcast, Chris Jericho said that Santana messed his knee up from doing a “simple Rock Bottom” and said he would be out eight months.

Jericho’s statement has been confirmed by Dave Meltzer in the latest episode of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Stating the following:

Santana needed reconstructive knee surgery and looks to be out about eight months. Even though he and Ortiz had a personal falling out, this is going to be tough for Ortiz who is going to have a tough time not being lost in the shuffle.

Reports have suggested that Santana’s contract with All Elite Wrestling has been scheduled to expire in September. However, Tony Khan has gone on record stating that he wants to take care of Santana throughout the duration of his surgery because it’s the right thing to do.

It will be interesting to see what’s next for Santana in the world of professional wrestling once he heals up from his current knee injury.
