Lee Moriarty: Joining Blackpool Combat Club Is Not My Priority, Getting Better On My Own Is

Lee Moriarty says he’s looking to improve on his own rather than joining any Club.

During an appearance on Muscle Memory with MuscleManMalcolm, Lee Moriarty was asked about potentially joining Blackpool Combat Club or another group in All Elite Wrestling. Moriarty said that he sees why people might want to see him in BCC, but he’s only focused on getting back on his own right now.

“The way I look at the AEW groups is I’m gonna do what’s best my career. I understand everybody wants me to join the Blackpool Combat Club ever since Danielson said my name, and I get why. My style of wrestling would fit well with them, but also the idea of growing by fighting them. You can’t get better if you’re only teaming with these people. You can get to a certain place, but if you’re not fighting the best, in my opinion, there’s only so far you can go.

“Yuta’s a great example. He fought those guys repeatedly. He fought Moxley three times I think before joining the group, and you saw how he progressed before getting there. I’ve only had the chance to step in the ring with Danielson twice, Moxley once, Yuta once. In AEW, there’s a lot a lot more room for me to grow before joining them if that [inaudible]. But that’s not my priority. My priority’s getting better on my own.”

Moriarty also spoke about how his career is going right now as well as the potential that he could end up working in Ring Of Honor.

“I say this word a lot when I do interviews and things, but it’s surreal, and to me, that’s the only way to describe it. I’m six and a half years in, so to be able to where I’m at is a blessing it takes people a very long time to get to this level, and I’ve gotten here quickly. But that’s because I’ve worked hard, and I had a lot of people in my corner, and also a big thing in wrestling is timing. Timing’s everything, and I’ve been very fortunate to have timing on my side.

“Any opportunity for me to compete, I’m gonna take. I’m excited that Tony Khan now runs Ring of Honor because he’s done so well with AEW, and Ring of Honor has a rich history. Tony Khan loves professional wrestling, and he’s gonna do right by Ring of Honor any way he can. I don’t know the long-term plans or any of that stuff. My goal is to wrestle the best wrestlers in the world when I can, however I can, abs climb the rankings, get championships, make more money because that’s the goal in professional wrestling.”
