The Rock: Ava Raine (Simone Johnson) Will Lay The SmackDown On Candy Asses In WWE

The Rock believes his daughter, Simone Johnson, will lay the smackdown in WWE.

Simone signed with WWE in February 2020, and after she was renamed as Ava Raine, she debuted at the July 8 NXT live event before she cut a promo the next night.

During an appearance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, “The Great One” discussed his daughter’s transition into the wrestling world and praised her performance.

“Very proud of her,” said The Rock. “So Simone Johnson, my oldest daughter, daughter I have with Dany, she made her debut in WWE, their smaller federation, NXT. So she did so good. She went out there on the microphone. You gotta be poised when you go out there, and she has a cool wrestling name. It’s Ava Raine.

The shift to the Raine name has been the source of some controversy. “The Brahma Bull” noted that, to him, the name means that Simone will lay the smackdown on candy asses, much like he once did.

“It comes from all different areas,” said The Rock. “Usually it’s probably a mix. What she wanted to do, what she wanted to be called, ultimately what the powers that be want her to be called as well. She’s the first fourth-generation of pro wrestler in WWE. I always like to say that name, Ava Raine, can mean a lot of things. But to me, in my mind, it means she’s gonna lay the SmackDown on candy asses.”

When asked whether his other daughters are interested in wrestling, The Rock stated that they prefer to put makeup on him.

“They love seeing me because it’s almost like a different lifetime for them, so they’re fascinated when they see me in matches, old matches,” said The Rock. “But they love jumping off coaches on me. For my little daughters, I have a six-year-old and a four-year old, and their favorite thing is putting makeup on me.”

The Rock remains focused on his acting career and other projects. His newest film, DC League of Super-Pets, will hit theaters on July 29. You can check out the newest trailer here.
