Rey Mysterio has been with WWE for 20 years, and he’s still enjoying the journey.
Mysterio debuted on WWE SmackDown in 2002. Since then, he has become one of the top stars of his generation, and he is a Grand Slam Champion with the company.
During an appearance on WWE’s The Bump, Mysterio discussed the milestone. When asked about teaming up with his son, Dominik, he stated that it feels special every time they step into the ring together. He emphasized that, health-wise, he feels great, and he’s looking forward to guiding his son as he continues his career.
“Every single time, every time we step into the ring, it feels special,” said Mysterio. “It feels like it’s a new day. For me, it’s incredible to be able to keep doing this at my age. 20 years of being on WWE and just health-wise, I feel incredible. My body feels good, so to be able to guide my son as much as I can for the next however many years I have left is a blessing. And my son, he’s excited to see what the future holds for him. I’m excited to see what the future holds for him as well.
Rey and WWE will officially celebrate his 20th anniversary on the July 25 episode of WWE RAW. A few days away from the occasion, the legend noted that he’s excited to have a birthday party of sorts at the iconic venue.
“It’s like how many people get to celebrate a birthday party at MSG? Very few. I’m on that list now,” said Mysterio. “To be able to celebrate 20 years at MSG is special. Dom knows what I’m talking about because when he stepped into MSG for the first time, he felt like, ‘Wow, this is cool. I can’t believe I’m at Madison Square Garden’. That arena has so much rich history. It just makes you feel special when you’re there. I’m excited to celebrate 20 years alongside my son, my teammates, and the fans.”
