Alex Hammerstone Discusses Being The Face Of MLW, Wants To Take The Title Around The World

Alex Hammerstone once viewed being the face of the company as an impossible goal. Now that he has achieved it, “Hammer” wants to keep climbing and crafting his legacy.

Hammerstone won the MLW World Heavyweight Championship at the MLW Fightland event in 2021, where he faced Jacob Fatu in a Title vs. Title Match. Heading into the bout, Hammerstone had held the MLW National Openweight Championship for 865 days. Now, he’s well-established as the world champion.

During an appearance on Cafe de Rene with Rene Dupree, Hammerstone stated that being the face of the company is “wild”, and he wants to be a great champion by taking the gold all over the world.

“It’s wild,” said Hammerstone. “Once you get there, now that I’m here, it just feels like my spot I should always have, right. But there was a time when it really felt like that was an unattainable goal. But now it’s where I’m at. Whereas what’s next, [it’s about] creating a legacy and making that belt look great, and I think I’ve been doing [that] so far in MLW. And I think I’m gonna continue to do that, not only there, but take the belt kind of around the world and continue being a great champion.”

MLW recently held its Battle Riot IV taping. In August, the company will make its El Paso debut with Fury Road.
