AQA Announces She’s Stepping Away From Wrestling

AQA is taking some time for herself.

On Monday, AQA posted a statement on Twitter and announced she was taking a break from professional wrestling to focus on her mental health. AQA said that she hopes to figure out the right path for herself during her absence and thanked All Elite Wrestling for granting her request.

I want to take this time to say thank you to anyone who has ever cheered for me, supported me, bought merch, had me on your podcast or wrote an article about me. Those who sent loving messages, made fan art, gave me a hug during a meet & greet, or a high-five on my way to and from the ring. Promoters who booked me, opponents that stood across from me, and my trainers for teaching me everything I know for I wouldn’t have made it this far without all of you.

At this time, I have decided to step away from professional wrestling for the immediate future. For the past few years, both mentally and physically, I have no been in a great place with wrestling, and silly me, I kept pushing through because I didn’t want to be seen as weak, but it ony sucked the fun out of every opportunity I had. I hope during this time I’ll be able to reflect deeply and see what path is best for me.

Thank you AEW for granting me this time [gold heart emoji]

Until I see you all again, much love. [white heart emoji]

AQA signed with All Elite Wrestling in February after making her debut for the company in a TBS Championship match against Jade Cargill. Her last match for AEW was a win over Avery Breaux on the July 5 episode of AEW Dark, and her last match overall was a loss to Athena at Warrior Wrestling’s June 18 live event in Michigan.

Prior to her arrival in AEW, AQA was known for her work in Reality Of Wrestling, where she was a student of Booker T. She also spent several months in 2021 with WWE on the company’s NXT brand. Known as Zayda Ramier during her tenure, she began competing for NXT on March 31, 2021. She was later medically disqualified from competing and was released by WWE on November 4, 2021.
