Update On Rumored Media Rights Deal For Major League Wrestling

Major League Wrestling continues to expand its reach.

F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer first reported (via the July 4 Wrestling Observer Newsletter) that there was talk about a new media rights deal for Major League Wrestling on the horizon. According to the report, the new deal would commence sometime in the fall and it was noted that there is speculation that it had some effect on the company’s July 16 event in Chicago (Cicero), which has since been removed from the schedule.

On July 7, MLW announced a new agreement that expanded its partnership with beIN Sports. The new agreement kicked in on July 8 and the network will air MLW content for free on the beIN Sports Xtra channel every Friday.

Despite the expansion of its footprint in the United States, WrestleZone has since learned that this is not the rumored media rights deal reported by F4W. WrestleZone has also learned that the beIN deal is very beneficial to MLW as it will allow the company to grow in key markets, especially on the network’s Spanish feed, including in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Chicago and Texas.

Major League Wrestling will return to Texas for a taping on August 27. The event will be held under the “Fury Road” banner and it marks the company’s debut in El Paso.
