The injury bug in professional wrestling has reached WWE NXT UK as one of their champions has been forced to relinquish their championship.
At the latest set of NXT UK television tapings, Ilja Dragunov was forced to vacate the NXT UK Championship. While the details of his injury have yet to be reported, he was wearing a walking boot in the ring when he made the announcement.
It was announced on the same taping that an eight-man tournament would be held to crown a new NXT UK Champion. The four men who entered the semi-finals were:
- Tyler Bate
- Mark Coffey
- Trent Seven
- Oliver Carter
This ends Ilja Dragunov’s NXT UK Championship reign at 318 days. Dragunov defeated current WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther at NXT TakeOver: 36 for the NXT UK Championship.
