Io Shirai will be a free agent next month if she does not sign a new contract with WWE.
According to a new report from F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer, Io Shirai will soon be a free agent. Shirai has not signed a new deal with WWE, and her existing contract is set to expire next month. It was also noted that Shirai had reportedly told people back in Japan that she was looking to return to the country to be closer to family.
Io Shirai is a former NXT Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, holding each title once. Shirai signed with WWE in 2018 and has been part of the NXT roster for her entire run. Shirai is currently injured and has not wrestled since competing against Mandy Rose, Cora Jade and Kay Lee Ray in the NXT Women’s Championship Fatal Four Way at NXT Stand & Deliver in April.
