Wheeler Yuta On AEW Dynamite Blood & Guts: I’m Excited And Ready For The Violence

Wheeler Yuta is excited ahead of AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts on June 29.

The reigning ROH Pure Champion will compete in the headlining bout alongside his Blackpool Combat Club stablemates, as well as Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz. The team will take on the Jericho Appreciation Society in what is expected to be a brutal battle.

In an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro.co.uk, Yuta previewed the match by first discussing the debut of his newest partner, Claudio Castagnoli, who arrived at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Yuta noted that he found out about his move to AEW when everyone else did — when he walked out to the ring. The young star made it clear he’s looking forward to seeing what the former Cesaro can do in AEW.

“I didn’t find out until everyone else did,” said Yuta. “When I was saying he would be a great fit [a few weeks ago], that was all just conjecture and me saying, ‘Oh yeah that’d be cool!’ To see him out there, it’s like, ‘Wow! This is my new teammate!’ It was really cool to see! I’m very excited to see what he’ll be able to do – in AEW in general, but also at Blood and Guts. I’m very excited for that as well.”

As for Blood & Guts, Yuta admitted that competing in the match will be a challenge, as the first edition of the bout, the clash between The Pinnacle and The Inner Circle, was an instant classic. The style of the contest is quite different for Yuta, a competitor who’s known for his technical wrestling, and he’s ready for the adjustment.

“It’s definitely gonna be a challenge, knowing that this match – even just in AEW, has already produced incredible moments, not to mention the legacy of the match beforehand for years and years,” he said. ‘It’s definitely a lot to live up to. It’s something different than I’ve ever done, so I’m really ready for the challenge.’

Finally, he pointed out that he’ll be in a match with some of the best wrestlers on the planet, so he’s naturally excited. Ahead of Wednesday night, he’s eagerly anticipating the violence.

“I’m surrounded by some of the best wrestlers in the world, so what could really go wrong?,” Yuta said. “I’m excited and I’m just ready for the violence, ready for the fight. Really looking forward to it.”
