It’s increasing clear at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door was a home run, at least from a financial perspective.
The event, which was held in the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, quickly sold out before more seats became available. During the post-show media scrum, AEW president Tony Khan stated that early estimates indicate that the event scored 100,000 buys on digital pay-per-view.
In a tweet on June 28, Khan thanked fans for making the show a hit and stated that it drew over $5 million on pay-per-view. He also reiterated that Forbidden Door netted over $1 million in ticket sales, making it the first AEW pay-per-view to do so; the first was AEW Double or Nothing 2022.
