Claudio Castagnoli is like a kid in a candy store in All Elite Wrestling.
During his post-show media scrum after AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Claudio Castagnoli was asked if there was a deciding factor in signing with All Elite Wrestling. Claudio said that he felt like he found a perfect moment in the ring on Sunday and that joining Jon Moxley and Blackpool Combat Club just works.
“How long do I have to answer that? Sometimes the stars align to have a perfect moment and that’s what happened tonight. I know Bryan [Danielson] will be back, but it’s just a perfect fit. We’ve been going back 10, 12 years of knowing each other, so a long time. We used to ride together, work out together, still do. We talk and it just fits, you know? At the end of the day, I’m looking for new challenges and here in AEW,” Claudio said. “I’m like a kid in a candy store.”
Asked if there was a shortlist of talent he’d like to work with in AEW, Claudio said he was honored to share the ring with Zack Sabre Jr. Claudio also named Orange Cassidy as a guy he’s known a long time, but noted it’s up to the fans to let him know what they want to. He noted that he hasn’t faced Kenny Omega in years, and he’s hard-pressed to give one name but knows it just fits.
Claudio was revealed as the mystery opponent for Zack Sabre Jr. on the show, and he also joined the Blackpool Combat Club in the ring to aid in a brawl with the Jericho Appreciation Society after the main event. Check out full results from the Forbidden Door pay-per-view at this link.
