Jeff Jarrett Discusses How He Became SVP Of Live Event Booking In WWE

WWE Hall of Jeff Jarrett explained how his new role with the company came about.

Jarrett recently returned to the company in an executive role, as he was named the Senior Vice President of Live Event Booking.

During an appearance on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves, Jarrett described how he had spent over a year with WWE, starting in 2019, and worked multiple role, even as the pandemic turned the business upside down.

“In 2018, I got inducted into the hall of fame. Fast forward a year later, did Royal Rumble and then came on kind of in a quasi producer role, and then I guess I was under CWT, creative writing team, which encompassed a lot. But then after about six months, I was moved into the live event department. So in a lot of ways, I’m kind of coming back to the position that I got into. I loved it. It’s a passion of mine. X Live events is a passion of mine, and I worked in live events in 2019 up til the pandemic.

“So the whole world shut down as we know it, and then during the pandemic I worked in international for quite some time. And then we went our separate ways….”

Jarrett then recalled how the company brought him back as part of its process of ramping back up live events after it returned to the road last summer.

“As of late, it all happened really quick,” said Jarrett. “And it’s hard to believe that WWE’s back on the road almost a year, and as that ramping up process and everyone knows how the organization makes smart decisions, runs lean and mean, highly profitable, but I’m really grateful that the team, the executive team, said hey, we’d like you to basically come back into the live event department. There’s so much that goes into live events and years ago, it was called house shows.

“The live event name, what it’s called, is really much more appropriate because that’s what it is, you come see it live. Now that we have RAW and SmackDown for the last 20, 30 years, and they’re no longer pay-pre-views, they’re premium live events. So we changed the wording in a lot of ways and what I’m kind of dialed into is my first priority, the non-televised live events. It is an incredible undertaking.”
