IMPACT Wrestling has confirmed its event themes for the company’s return to Chicago.
IMPACT Wrestling previously announced it would return to Chicago in August, but the event names were yet to be announced. On Friday, IMPACT confirmed Emergence and Second City Slamm would take place on consecutive nights at Cicero Stadium on Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13. Warrior Wrestling used Cicero Stadium for its Warrior Wrestling 19 event in February.
Second City Slamm is likely the name IMPACT is using for its AXS television tapings and it would not be used on air; other names used by the company to promote the taping include Southern Hostility for the July 2 taping in Atlanta, and Derby City Rumble on July 16 in Louisville.
IMPACT Emergence debuted in August 2021 as an IMPACT Plus streaming special that was taped at Skyway Studios in Nashville. The full event can be viewed on IMPACT Plus (subscription required) and the match card featured Josh Alexander defending the X Division Championship, Deonna Purrazzo and Matthew Rehwoldt vs. Trey Miguel and Melina, and Christian Cage defending the IMPACT World Championship against Brian Myers.
