Bryan Danielson Not Cleared For Forbidden Door, Zack Sabre Jr. Set To Face Mystery Opponent

Bryan Danielson is out, but who is in?

Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite opened with Bryan Danielson confirming that he is not cleared to compete. Danielson says he was scheduled to face Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door, but he was injured during the Anarchy In The Arena match and will miss both Forbidden Door and Blood & Guts.

Danielson says he’ll be back soon enough, but there’s good news because he found someone to replace him at both events. He prefaces his next announcement by saying Eddie Kingston called him a judgmental prick, and he’s right. Danielson says it’s because he has really high standards and his replacement is the one person he trusts to do so. He says everyone will be astounded by what this guy does, but Danielson won’t tell everyone because “he came out of the bad guy tunnel” and he’ll make them wait until Sunday. Danielson calls himself the best technical wrestler in the world, then Sabre Jr. confronts him on the stage to end the segment.

Bryan Danielson has not competed since the Anarchy In The Arena match at AEW Double Or Nothing on May 29. Sabre Jr. initially called out Danielson for a match during a post-match promo after NJPW Dominion, calling himself the best technical wrestler in the world.

“No more time more for subtlety. American Dragon, can you take some time out of your busy golfing schedule, the Blackpool Country Club, to find out who the best technical wrestler in the world is,” Sabre Jr. said. “I’ll tell you now, darling. It’s f-cking me.”
