Wheeler Yuta believes he’s the best pure wrestler in the world, and he has a championship to prove it.
Ring of Honor Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta recently sat down with Brandon F. Walker of Rasslin’ to discuss a wide variety of subjects. Yuta admitted that he didn’t predict his rapid rise in All Elite Wrestling with a faction like the Blackpool Combat Club. In fact, he noted that he couldn’t have imagined it happening so quickly.
“Not even just did I picture this happening this quickly, I never pictured this at all,” Wheeler Yuta said. “Like if you were to imagine — take a wrestling fan off the street like three years ago and be like, Hey, this is a faction this is going to happen. Wheeler Yuta is going to have these wonderful mentors, William Regal, Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley. They’re gonna be a unit; they’re gonna fight together. Do you believe it? No way.”
When asked if the pairing works because they’re all like-minded individuals, Yuta agreed and said that they all agree on how they like their professional wrestling and that the group has a vision for where they want things to go in the future.
“Oh, I would say so,” Wheeler Yuta said. “I think that we realize we’re all very like-minded individuals and how we like our wrestling to be… I think it’s really about the kind of wrestling we want to see in AEW,” Wheeler Yuta said. “So I think that the further it goes, the more and more we’re going to try to spread our message of violence and kind of continue that, and then I think that they have a goal of helping to bring me up, to elevate me.”
Yuta didn’t mix words when he said he believes he’s the best pure wrestler in the world, and he pointed to his status as the Ring of Honor Pure Champion as evidence.
“Yes,” Wheeler Yuta confirmed. “I have a championship to prove it.”
