Daniel Garcia Aims To Become An All-Time Great: ‘I Want To Be Remembered’

Daniel Garcia has been put in high-pressure situations since the beginning of his time in All Elite Wrestling, and he takes this prominence as a sign of Tony Khan’s trust in him.

In August 2021, Garcia faced former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley in the main event of AEW Rampage: The First Dance. He also battled other top stars like CM Punk and Darby Allin in the early portion of his run with the company. Now, “Red Death” continues to shine in AEW as a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society alongside former world champion Chris Jericho.

During an appearance on Talk Is Jericho, Garcia told his stablemate that seeing Khan’s trust in him from the start blew him away. He noted that he felt like his impressive performances continue to speak for themselves, which is why he keeps getting major opportunities.

“It feels like a big deal,” said Garcia. “I’m blown away by the amount of trust that Tony showed in me, like right off the bat. I mean, I got here, and I was wrestling Mox, main eventing the United Center, like a couple of weeks into being AEW. And I feel like I was just able to build a lot of trust with him by doing really well in all my performances to where now, we were driving to L.A. from Vegas, me, the Blade, and Laura [The Bunny]. We were all driving to L.A., and we were eating at a diner. And I just opened up my phone, and I’m like, oh, I guess I’m wrestling Moxley at the Kia Forum on Wednesday, I just see a tweet from Tony like ‘Daniel’s wrestling Mox.'”

The future seems very bright for Garcia, as he continues to reach new levels of success. Alongside the rest of the JAS, he competed in the Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing, and the battle received a five-star rating from Dave Meltzer. Moving forward, “Red Death” wants to build his legacy and become one of the greatest of all time. He made it clear that he wants to remembered like other legends.

“I want to go down as one of the greatest sports entertainers, wrestlers, of all time” said Garcia. “I want to be in the conversation once I retire. Even if I’m not a consensus ‘greatest of all time,’ I want it, when people talk about, like if there’s a roundtable discussion, when they’re saying ‘Man, we got to talk about who’s the greatest of all time,’ I want to at least be in the conversation. I want someone to bring my name up, that’s my goal, you know? I want to be a multi-time world champion. I want to give people moments to remember, that they’re going to tell their kids about.

“Like, if a dad sees his kid watching wrestling, I want them to come in and be like ‘Oh, I used to watch Dan Garcia beat up Jon Moxley at the Forum.’ Like, I want people to talk about me in the same light that they talk about people like you, or they talk about Triple H, or [Bryan Danielson]. I want to be remembered, is the main goal.”
