Taya Valkyrie Becomes First MLW Women’s Featherweight Champion

Tonight in the main event of MLW Fusion, Taya Valkyrie defeated Holidead to become the first-ever MLW Women’s Featherweight Champion.

The closing moments of the match saw Arez jump on the apron to distract Holidead as she was trying to attempt a double underhook driver. Taya managed to block it and shoved her into Arez, which knocked them off of the apron. Taya turns and gets kicked in the face but dodged a knee strike and applied an STF. Holidead tried to break the hold, but Valkyrie stomped her head and forced her to tap out.

Valkyrie now holds both the MLW Women’s Featherweight Championship and the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship. She will look to add a third championship this Sunday at IMPACT Wrestling’s Slammiversary as she teams with Rosemary to take on The Influence for the Knockouts Tag Team Championships.

Taya Valkyrie recently sat down with WrestleZone’s own Bill Pritchard to discuss a wide variety of subjects. You can check out that interview by clicking here.
