Face to Face: Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi

Moxley and Tanahashi stare each other down. Moxley says he’s been chasing Tanahashi for a long time, and now he finally gets to face him. He says he has chased Tanahashi to Japan and to NJPW STRONG, and it’s always been about “The Ace.” Moxley says there are a lot of titles in wrestling, but Tanahashi is the one man they call “Ace”, but not for long. He calls Tanahashi an inspiration to generations and an inspiration to him. Moxley says he is the best wrestler on the planet, and their match is about more than the title; everything he’s worked for over the past three years will be on the line. He tells Tanahashi that he blames for keeps. Moxley says Tanahashi will call him “Ace” when it’s all said and done. Chris Jericho comes to the stage and says this is his spot; he has beaten Tanahashi before in the Tokyo Dome. Tanahashi tells him to shut up.

The JAS runs to the ring, but Lance Archer and El Desperado of Suzuki-gun attack Moxley and Tanahashi from behind. Jericho officially introduces Guevara and Tay Conti as the newest members of the JAS. He introduces Archer and Desperado and says they’re on loan from Minoru Suzuki. He announces that he will team up with Suzuki and Guevara to face Wheeler Yuta, Shota Umino, and Eddie Kingston at AEW Forbidden Door. Kingston charges to the ring with Wheeler Yuta and Ortiz. Hangman recalls how he called his shot last week and called out Kazuchika Okada; he noted that he wanted to challenge Okada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Page admits that he didn’t realize Okada could lose the title before Forbidden Door, and he did. Hangman says the challenge still stands before Adam Cole interrupts him. He says congratulates to the new champion, his good friend Jay White. Cole then says Page will not challenge for the title because if anyone is going to, it will be him. Cole says Forbidden Door is about the Undisputed Elite and the Bullet Club. He says the best way to showcase that would be Cole vs. Jay White. Cole says that Okada won’t be at Forbidden Door, but someone else wants to say hello; White sneaks into the ring and drops Page with a Bladerunner.

He grabs a mic and says that Hangman doesn’t call the shots. White reminds Page that he lost the title, and “The Switchblade” is 2-0 against. He says if he’s going to defend the title at Forbidden Door, it won’t be against Page, and it won’t be against Cole, either. White says this is the “Switchblade Era.”
