Taya Valkyrie Calls Masha Slamovich A ‘Fireball Of Energy’, Looks To Keep Evolving As A Character

The Watch List takes a look at what matches you should be watching while you’re at home and they come recommended by your favorite professional wrestling stars.

WrestleZone recently spoke with Taya Valkyrie, who spoke about wanting to continue to evolve as she explores a more serious character. Taya pointed to recent matches with Deonna Purrazzo and Masha Slamovich as some contests that she’s especially proud of.

“I’m constantly thinking about new ways of getting into my move set or new things that I can add to it and evolve as a character. I feel like Taya right now is a little bit more serious because I’m jaded. I just try to evolve even in my promos and things like that, and I think you’ll see more of that in IMPACT moving forward, seeing a kind of a more serious but still super fun and still the same Taya that everybody knows, loves or hates.

“I just think that my second match with Deonna [Purrazzo] on IMPACT I think was even better than the first one that we had this year. I thought that that was really great. I just wrestled Masha Slamovich this last weekend, which was the first time I’ve ever done that. And she is a fireball of energy, and I just see so much potential in her. I haven’t seen the match yet, but I really want to see it and I would look forward to wrestling her again. And I just really want to touch on more intergender wrestling because that’s where I honestly come from.

“Lucha Libre has had intergender wrestling be part of it since forever. I remember when I first moved to the States and people made a big deal about it, I was just like, ‘I don’t really understand. I’ve been doing this for forever. It’s not that big of a deal’. You know, if I’m in a competitive match with a guy who is the same size as me or even bigger than me, and what’s to say that I can’t take him down? So I think there’s a believability, especially for someone like myself, who has a lot of experience in that in that genre. So those are all kind of the things that I’m looking to evolve and just like touch on moving forward.”
