Trevor Murdoch Sees NWA Title Win As Culmination Of His Work, Wants To Prove His Haters Wrong Again

Trevor Murdoch is ready for his match this weekend against Aron Stevens for the National Wrestling Alliance.

Ahead of this weekend’s Alwayz Ready pay-per-view, Trevor Murdoch sat down with PWMania to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about what brought him back to professional wrestling, Murdoch revealed that it took place when he attended Harley Race’s funeral and spoke to NWA executives who were also in attendance afterward.

“What it came down to was when I was at Harley’s funeral,” Trever Murdoch said. “NWA sent executives to pay respects. David Lagan came over and spoke with me about coming in to have a match. They reminded me I still have a lot left in the tank. For me, it was just a reminder that I could still do this and could still go. People still cared.”

Trevor Murdoch is a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, and he has kind words to say about the man he defeated to win the title, Nick Aldis.

“Nick is one of the most talented and skillful guys in the business today,” Trevor Murdoch said. “He’s good-looking, talented, impressive, and looks like a world champion. When you see your name against him on the card, you better lace up your boots tight. He didn’t give one inch, everything I got, I had to earn, and ultimately I ended up earning his respect. Winning that [NWA] title was the culmination of all my hard work. It proved to me and everyone else that I can be a world champion and I am a world champion.”

Aron Stevens is scheduled to wrestle his last match this weekend at Alwayz Ready against Murdoch, although he isn’t really sure why Stevens would pick him to be his final opponent.

“Aron is a very creative, and cunning individual.” Trevor Murdoch said. “Every time you step into a ring with someone like Aron Stevens, you got to prepare to go to work. Why Aron would pick me for his final match, I don’t know.”

Looking past this weekend, Murdoch made it a point to remind everyone that he’s still owed a rematch for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, and he’s just waiting for the right moment to cash in that opportunity.

“Everyone forgets that I still have a [NWA Worlds Heavyweight title] rematch coming to me. I’m sitting back and waiting for my opportunity,” Trevor Murdoch said. “When that happens, I’m going to prove all the haters wrong again.”
