It looks as if Roman Reigns is no longer competing at WWE’s next premium live event.
According to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will not be in action at WWE Money In The Bank on July 2. According to the report, plans for Reigns working the event changed once Money In The Bank was moved from Allegiant Stadium to the MGM Grand Garden Arena. F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer has confirmed the initial report from SI.
Last month, it was reported that Roman Reigns signed a new deal that would see him work a reduced schedule, including less live event dates. Reigns was initially advertised for several premium live events, including Hell in a Cell, Money In The Bank, SummerSlam and Clash at the Castle, but he was later pulled from ads for HIAC.
Reigns’ next three challengers were reported to be Riddle, Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre, and those respective matches were scheduled to take place at Money In The Bank, SummerSlam and Clash at the Castle. It looks as if the MITB match won’t take place as planned, but Barrasso says the opponent lineup hasn’t changed. Riddle called out Roman Reigns on this week’s episode of RAW, but it’s unclear when that match would take place if confirmed.
Reigns’ last match was a May 22 live event title defense against Drew McIntyre in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but he has not defended the title on WWE TV since winning both belts at WrestleMania 38.
