Hangman Page has lost the AEW World Championship, but he has another title in his sights.
On the June 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, Page returned to the ring and defeated NJPW’s David Finlay. After the match, Hangman stated that there’s more than one world title in professional wrestling. He made it clear that he wants the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, and he wants to face Kazuchika Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Adam Cole, who was on commentary for the bout, interrupted and stated that he was more deserving of facing Okada because he won the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament.
Cole also pointed out that by the time Forbidden Door comes around, Okada might not be the champion; he will defend the gold against Jay White at NJPW Dominion on June 12. He then told Page to stay out of his way before he walked away. It’s unclear who will wind up facing Okada at Forbidden Door, but it’s clear that two of AEW’s top stars have every intent to step into the ring with him.
