Cody Rhodes battled Seth “Freakin'” Rollins in a Hell in a Cell Match at WWE Hell in a Cell.
The bout marked the third consecutive Premium Live Event where the two stars have clashed. Rhodes returned to WWE as Rollins’ mystery opponent at WrestleMania 38 and defeated the former Universal Champion. “The American Nightmare” beat Rollins again at WrestleMania Backlash. Their rivalry continued to escalate, so they agreed to face off again in a Hell in a Cell Match.
Before the event, WWE announced that Rhodes suffered a torn pectoral tendon, but he still wanted to compete. When he came to the ring, “The American Nightmare” took his jacket off to reveal that his chest was purple due to the injury.

Rhodes’ arm was clearly compromised, as he was nowhere near at 100%. Rollins, glad in Polka Dot gear as a mockery of Cody’s dad, Dusty, capitalized and used a kendo stick to brutally jab the wounded area. “The American Nightmare” persevered and hit a Cody Cutter. “The Visionary” whipped Rhodes with a weight belt and threw him into the steel steps. Rhodes pulled out a cowbell and both whipped Rollins with the strap and blasted him with the steel. Rollins pulled Rhodes arm-first into the steel ring post. He went for a powerbomb, but Rhodes countered and hit a Crossrhodes.
Rollins tried again and powerbombed Rhodes through a table with a two count. “The Visionary” grabbed a sledgehammer, but Rhodes blocked him from using it and hit the Pedigree. In the end, Rhodes powered through the pain and hit two Crossrhodes. He then blasted Rollins with the sledgehammer for the win.
