Update: Hangman Page Vs. Kazuchika Okada Not Being Planned, Forbidden Door Lineup Being Kept Secret

It looks as if that rumored Hangman Page vs. Kazuchika Okada match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is not in the works right now.

According to Dave Meltzer on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, internal listings for Forbidden Door originally had former AEW World Champion Hangman Page scheduled to wrestle Kazuchika Okada.

“I had seen a lineup, which was interesting because it was Punk and Tanahashi for the AEW title and the other match was Okada and Adam Page, which actually could be a hell of a match for the IWGP title,” Dave Meltzer said. “I don’t know if that will happen, change, or whatever, and then the rest of the show is probably a lot of tag matches between factions on each side.”

In a new update on Thursday, Meltzer issued a correction via the Wrestling Observer Twitter account and said that the match was in fact not being planned for the PPV after all. Meltzer claimed that the Hangman Page vs. Kazuchika Okada match was included in an incorrect lineup, and the actual lineup is being kept a secret.

As of now, CM Punk vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi is the only match planned for the card, as New Japan’s “Ace” showed up on Dynamite on Wednesday to challenge the new AEW World Champion. Kazuchika Okada is currently scheduled to defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Dominion against Bullet Club leader Jay White, which could affect plans for the Forbidden Door card.
