Matt Cardona will be forced to miss some time due to an arm injury.
On Tuesday, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Matt Cardona announced that he confirmed he tore his bicep and will miss some ring time due to have surgery to repair the injury.
“Got a MRI today. Bicep is torn. Surgery needed. Will unfortunately need to cancel some dates,” Cardona wrote.
Cardona was injured during his recent match against Blake Christian at GCW Downward Spiral. It was believed that he hurt his arm while he was attempting to catch a diving Blake Christian during the bout. Cardona initially noted that he was injured, but he would wait to learn more after following up with his doctor.
Cardona and Christian were originally scheduled to meet in a rematch at GCW C.O.S., but that match looks to be off due to Cardona’s announcement on Tuesday. Additionally, Cardona was scheduled to defend the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Nick Aldis at NWA Alwayz Ready, the event named in Cardona’s honor. It’s unclear how much time Cardona will miss due to the injury.
Matt Cardona has held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship since February 12, 2022. He defeated Trevor Murdoch for the title at NWA PowerrrTrip in Oak Grove, Kentucky.
