Chris Jericho Discusses His Recent Body Transformation, How It Tied Into His On-Screen Storylines

Chris Jericho is having an incredible 2022 run right now in All Elite Wrestling.

Former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho took part in a AEW Double or Nothing media scrum to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his recent body transformation over the last several months, Jericho said it came down to a combination of different things.

“Yeah, it just was a combination of a bunch of different things,” Chris Jericho began. “And I just started really kind of changing my diet around. A little bit for some health reasons that I had that I’ll explain at some point. But once I lost, like 10 pounds, and it wasn’t really that hard. I said, Well, maybe I’ll just keep on this diet. And then it just became a way of life, and it just tied in so perfectly. Like Tony mentioned reinventing myself was just when we started doing the Jericho Appreciation Society. And then I lose a bunch of weight and it just kind of all fit in. It was like it really was inspiring to like that’s the hardest thing whenever you have to break some kind of a bad habit or eating habit or whatever.

“When you feel a little bit of inspiration, then it tied into to what I was doing on-screen, and Tony was very much behind it. It just all fits. Every time I reinvent, I don’t write it down. I wish I could say that I just write these things down, and it’s all coming to plan. None of this was ever supposed to happen ever. Except for I had some health issues in December. Then as soon as I was fine, Eddie Kingston broke his orbital bone, and they were like, what the f-ck are we going to do? This is like the match that’s never gonna happen, except for now, it created the whole Jericho Appreciation Society, the Blackpool Combat Club. All the stuff that we’re doing was very organic, and I keep saying it that it’s writing itself; the story is writing itself. And that was a big part of it.”

Chris Jericho and the Jericho Appreciation Society won the Anarchy In The Arena match at Double Or Nothing on Sunday. Check out full results from the event at this link.
