Drew McIntyre Wants WWE To Bring Back The European Title So He Can Win It

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has his sights set on winning a title that hasn’t been active since 2002.

In recent weeks, McIntyre has been feuding with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the Bloodline; alongside RK-Bro, he came up short against the trio at WWE WrestleMania Backlash. Still, many fans expect to see McIntyre challenge “The Tribal Chief” at some point soon.

No matter what happens with this title chase, “The Scottish Warrior” told Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT that he wants to win the European Championship, which was deactivated in 2002. He stated that he’d like WWE to bring the title back and let him win it, but he noted that he’d retire it again.

“Yes! I just want it. Because when I was a kid and I saw it I was like ‘ah man, I want to be European champion’ and now I can’t because it doesn’t exist right now. I don’t like too many titles and there are a lot right now, but I just wanted it when I was a kid.

“So just bring it back, let me win it and then I’ll retire it. You never want too many titles in the company because then it’s not as special. I think where we’re at right now is good, but give ol’ Drew the European title for young Drew.”

McIntyre lobbied for WWE to hold a major event in the United Kingdom, and this wish will become a reality with Clash at the Castle in September. Time will tell whether McIntyre’s dream of being a European Champion will come true.
