Thunder Rosa wants to be a true world champion and defend her AEW Women’s Championship against talent around the globe.
In an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Thunder Rosa said that she does want to be part of AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Forbidden Door event in June. Additionally, La Mera Mera said that she feels like she’s already in that “forbidden door” club, alluding to her time with the National Wrestling Alliance before she joined AEW full-time.
“I will say that’s a Tony Khan question, you will have to wait for Tony Khan on Busted Open Radio [laughs] I don’t know,” she said. “If you ask me personally if I want to be a part of the Forbidden Door, I am one of the first ones that opened the Forbidden Door. I am one of the official members of the Forbidden Door.”
Thunder Rosa also worked for Stardom before, and she said she’d love the chance to defend her title against someone from the Japanese women’s promotion roster.
“One of the places I started was in Stardom and I would love to defend my championship against somebody from Stardom. I would love to do that,” Thunder Rosa noted, “just to show again why I am now the AEW Women’s champion.”
Before she gets the chance to do that, Thunder Rosa will defend her title against Serena Deeb at AEW Double Or Nothing on May 29. Rosa previewed her clash with “The Professor” and highlighted the importance of the bout; read more about how she’s approaching the title defense at this link.
