AEW Women’s World Title Bout Set For AEW Double Or Nothing

Serena Deeb will challenge Thunder Rosa for the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW Double or Nothing on May 29.

Rosa called out Deeb on the May 4 episode of AEW Dynamite. The champion described how she wanted to elevate the women’s division, and Deeb agreed, but she made it clear that she believes she needs to hold the gold in order to do so.

The broadcast team subsequently confirmed the bout for the pay-per-view.

Thunder Rosa won the championship on the special “St. Patrick’s Day Slam” episode of AEW Dynamite on March 16 by defeating Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. in a Steel Cage match in front of her hometown crowd in San Antonio, Texas. Since the win, she’s only made one successful title defense; she beat Nyla Rose in the main event of AEW Battle of the Belts II. Meanwhile, Deeb has racked up nine wins in AEW this year, and she hasn’t lost since Hikaru Shida beat her last December.

The fully updated card for AEW Double or Nothing is as follows:

  • TBD vs. TBD – Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Final
  • TBD vs. TBD – Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Final
  • AEW Women’s World Championship: Thunder Rosa (c) vs. Serena Deeb
  • AEW World Championship: “Hangman” Adam Page (c) vs. CM Punk
