Former WWE writer and actor Freddie Prinze Jr. is ready to help expand the world of professional wrestling.
On the latest episode of Wrestling with Freddie, Freddie Prinze Jr. went into great detail about the wrestling promotion he wants to start roughly a year and a half from now. He has enough money already to keep the promotion running for three years. He also wants to make sure that there’s equal time for men’s and women’s wrestling. While he doesn’t have a TV deal yet, he does have some of the equipment needed already.
Prinze explained that he watched some classic wrestling, including Ring Of Honor content, and started asking for feedback from his peers. Prinze said that he originally saw this as a two-year plan, which he noted during a previous interview with Ariel Helwani, but now has enough capital to operate for an additional year. Prinze also said that he could open the promotion sooner, but it would require him to go to Australia for several months and be away from his family (likely for an unnamed acting role), which is not something he’s keen on. At the end of the podcast, Prinze ran down his vision for the promotion and promises that this isn’t a dream but a reality.
“But yeah, so that’s the goal. I want women’s and men’s wrestling. I want the storylines based in reality. I want my wrestlers to be unionized performers. Yeah, man, I just want to make good wrestling,” Freddie Prinze Jr. said. “It’s not a dream. It’s a plan, and it will be a reality. My only thing is, how quickly can I pull it off and at what sacrifice. I’ve said this before wrestling requires 100% of you to do it right. Regardless of what side of the camera you’re on.

“It’s one of the reasons I wouldn’t go back to WWE. I couldn’t give them 100%. I can’t travel all over. If I had a local show in Los Angeles and an office that I could go to every day. I would have a booker because I cannot book to save my life. But I can really write. I can connect with people. I can pull good performances out of people when their bosses didn’t think performance was within them before. I know I can do that because I’ve seen it happen.
“I know what my strengths are. I damn well know what I suck at. I was told what I suck at enough. So yeah, that’s the plan. I hope you guys support it. I hope you dig it. If you don’t, you can be just as vocal because that stuff motivates me too. I want to make you eat it. Even if you don’t want to admit it later on, you can go silent. It’s just as satisfying as seeing you go, hey, man. Right on. I was wrong. You pulled that off. So yeah, that’s the episode today, no past, no present, only the future. And I think the future for wrestling is bright. I think this is about to be a huge rebirth for wrestling.”
