The Miz Sees Chad Gable As The Next Breakout Star: He Found His Voice, This Character Is A Moneymaker

The Miz believes that Chad Gable has finally found his voice in WWE.

Former two-time WWE Champion The Miz was the latest guest on Out of Character with Ryan Satin to discuss a wide variety of topics. During the interview, The Miz stressed the importance of having a character in WWE if you ever hope to get over with the audience.

“You can bring any athlete in here, and you can teach someone the moves if they have the passion for it, and they dedicate themselves, but the character is honestly the most hard to find,” The Miz said. “Because a lot of times it’s like, who are you? I’ll go down to NXT, and my first question is, alright, who are you? Give me one sentence on who you are. And they’ll be like, uhh. The first thing shouldn’t be uhh. The first thing should be like; I am this person, I am this, this, and this. And here’s why I’m going to make it to WWE, and here’s why I’m going to do this, this, and this.

“These are the reasons. These are the motivations. These are who you are as a character. And it can’t just be like, you know, it could be anything like when I say character. It doesn’t have to be a character. It’s just you. I’m a; I don’t know, an amateur wrestler. I was fifth in state, and now I’m here in the WWE because I took that world by storm. And now I’m going to take this world by storm, that kind of stuff like that’s all I need. There’s the passion.

“That can be the character, or it can be like, let me tell you something, brother. You know what I mean? It doesn’t have to be that. But it can be whatever you want it to be. But a lot of times, you’ll go down, you’ll go to a developmental territory, or someone will ask advice, and I’ll go, you’re a wrestler. What’s your character? Uhh yeah, I don’t know. I’m kind of this guy. No, you shouldn’t be kind of. You should know exactly if you want to be a WWE Superstar. You better know exactly who you are going in there. Because guess what, when you get here, they’re probably going to change it. They know you can find something in it. So they’ll give you something else and go; we liked what you’re doing here. Try this.”

The Miz went on to use Chad Gable of the Alpha Academy as the perfect example of someone who has found their character and has risen to new heights on WWE programming because of it.

“Chad Gable first came in with Jason Jordan, right. Amazing tag team incredible,” The Miz said. “[But it] didn’t click like it didn’t get to the upper echelons, but [they] won things and did stuff and was in there. Then they took him and said Alright, you’re going to be a singles competitor. You’ll be Shorty G. And everyone was like, ‘What?’ Honestly, sometimes it’s just I see something in you. Let’s see if we can get something out of you. Let’s see if we can find something that’s different than everybody else. And most times, the fans or the critics will be like, ‘why are they doing this? This guy went to the Olympics.’ Like we’re just trying to find something here. In my mind, that’s what they’re doing. So then he did it. He took it, and I thought he did exceptional at it.

“He didn’t get to the upper echelons, or whatever, but he took that character and made something out of it. And now you look at Chad Gable. Guess what? He found his voice. He found his character. And now you look at him and you go, ‘oh wow, this is a moneymaker.’ This character is a moneymaker all the way. I look at that and I go. He’s ready. He’s prepared. Now he just needs the battles to do work himself up, and every time they take something and it’s like, you won’t be doing this. You won’t be doing that. Take it with a grain of salt. Be like, alright, no problem. Whatever you give me, I’m gonna make it gold. And that’s what he’s been doing. And as he keeps doing that, we’re gonna see Chad Gable be a contender. And a superstar. And I think a main event or a person that put asses in seats. So I think if he keeps working at it and keeps going, he’s going to be something even more special than he already is.”
